I’ve had a couple of emails lately, telling me that my bookings with Virgin America/Hawaiian Airlines are in order, that my confirmation code is so and so, and that my credit card has been charged with $620,24 or thereabouts. Attached to the email is my travel itinerary…

Now, the normal response to that, for anyone who hasn’t purchased a ticket from said airlines, would be to open the attachment, right? I didn’t. When I got the first one, I went to check Virgin Americas website. Lo and behold, there was a warning that their name had been used to spread a trojan virus.

So, people, if you get a mail from a reputable airline confirming your flight and the payment thereof – DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT!

Delete the email straight away, and delete it from your “deleted” folder too, to avoid any mishaps.

Stumble it!

You have to be so wary these days and not give out any of your personal account information as there are so many scams out there, just waiting to pounce on those who are unguarded!

Definitely deleting the e-mail is the best thing to do.

Thanks for the heads-up honey. Don’t these folks have anything better to do? I guess not. Have a great day. :)

With all the publicity about not clicking on any link in an email, and not downloading anything from a site you don’t know… the spam keeps coming and the spam/scam people must be making money… so it would be interesting to meet someone who actually clicked on the link in one of the messages. Is it a misguided soul looking for companionship? A busy businessperson distracted for a moment? A rank newbie who doesn’t know better? Or who?

Mommie Says:

I haven’t seen this, but I never open any attachments unless I know exactly who they are from!

They are getting more clever all the time. Don’t you wonder what they could do if they put their intellect to a good use?

Thank you for the warning. I would have opened it just to see what was going on.

Thanks for the warning. I never open any attachments if I don’t know the sender. But, that might’ve been hard to resist!
