Maybe not. However, 325.000 people in the US experience SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) every year. That’s 900 per day – in the US alone!
SCA usually occurs without much warning, and occurs when the lower chambers of the heart, called ventricles, stop beating normally and start quivering quickly in a very chaotic manner, giving a highly Irregular Heartbeat. Symptoms include sudden collapse, loss of consciousness, abnormal breathing, a weak or nonexistant pulse and loss of blood pressure. Pretty scary… Without treatment, the patient will most likely die within 10 minutes.
So – what can you do? You can establish the level of risk you’re in. At Inside Cardiac Arrest, you’ll find a risk assessment program that helps you understand its potential dangers to you or your loved ones.
Also – learn how to perform CPR! Should you be there when someone has a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, YOU could be the difference between life and death for that person. Likewise, the person who knows how, could mean survival for you…
Let’s all be Boy Scouts, shall we?? “Be prepared!”
