Mo is on holiday (hope you’re having a smashing time, Mo!), and in his absense, Janna’s hosting her very first Carnival!

Head on over there, there may still be time to join in, and there’s certainly time to visit some of the wonderful MM posts that people have submitted. My favourite Manic post on this blog has to be this one, on 1000, and that’s the one I’ve submitted to the Carnival on The Jannaverse!

If I’d known about the site Webhostrating back in the days when I was looking for a web host, I might have made a better job of it.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m very happy with my hosting service. The thing is - I was lucky.
My service happens to be within the top 5 in the rating.
How I made my choice?
The criteria were few and very simple: I didn’t really have any. I didn’t even know the correct term (web host, FYI!) in English, so I had no idea what to look for at first…
The host I finally chose had a site that looked trustworthy, and I’d seen their name now and then during my search.
As I said - lucky.
Webhostrating also have an extensive articles section, where you can learn more about various types of hosting. There are tutorials too, that can help you get the most out of your hosting service. I’ll be sure to check those out - that I managed to get this blog up and running was something of a miracle. I should learn more, so I can keep it for a long time…

du-du-du-du-du-du

Right. I’ve managed to hack into #4 Brats computer (Ha! I tortured her into giving me the password), and here’s a post of thanks to my Entre-adverisers from last week.

I have a little hope that I’ll be able to get online with my own PC tomorrow, which means no Vista (yay!!!) and back to dropping Entrecards (I went cold turkey. Awful.)

Anyone heard this conversation before?

- online support, how can I help?

- I don’t seem to be able to get on the Internet.

- OK, blablabla, push this, press that, blablabla, is this lamp on? press this, push that, blablabla and reboot your computer.

- It doesn’t help, I still can’t get on…

- right, I see what’s gone wrong. You need a new driver for your network card.

- great! How do I get hold of that?

- You download it. Give me your email adress, and I’ll send you a link.

This is where I wished to be 14 again, so I could say: DUH!

A couple of posts ago, I mentioned the death of our water pump. It has since been magically resurrected (as has the dishwasher, touch wood!), but the news of their demise has alerted Adsense… I came back today to find that this blog is inundated with ads on wills, wreaths and bereavement, grief counseling and memorials for pets. With some geneaology thrown in for good measure.
This post won’t help matters, I’m sure…

No water. Absolutely no water.
This afternoon, our pump died (we get our water from deep into the ground), and left the faucets dry as the Sahara. Some kind of electrical problem, according to a handy friend of ours, and electricians work during daylight hours.
So - we’ve brought water home in plastic canisters, and I’ve done the dishes after heating water on the stove. We use buckets to flush, a shower is out of the question, and I think I’ll have a glass of wine in a minute.
If it lasts, we’ll have to go over to cognac.

I do. And I’ve just found a huge, virtual department store where I can find everything under the sun, and get cash back for shopping. What’s more, I get cash back from your shopping too, if I refer you to them…

eBay shopping? Get cash back on every purchase. Best Buy? Target? Babies’R Us? Walmart? The same goes for shopping there, and with hundreds of other retailers. Shop, refer others or both, and collect your savings and commissions in your PayPal account every month.

Big Crumbs  makes sense because merchants only pay when they make a sale. There’s no members fee, no hidden costs, which is why merchants like the service too. If you’re selling on eBay, you really should have a look at this site - they’ll help your eBay store or eBay items gain visibility, and they’ll be seen by a targeted audience that’s got the added cash back incentive.

The money merchants pay Big Crumbs for sending you their way when you shop with them is used to pay you and the person who referred you (if applicable).
There are two types of membership: Savers get a very good cash back on their own shopping, as well as referrals commissions on the shopping of their direct referrals. Earners get a smaller, but competitive cash back on their own shopping, but earn commissions on their referrals shopping as well as the shopping of their referrals referrals - for 5 generations. See? The name makes sense too. Enough crumbs, and you’ll soon have a whole bakery…

There’s no spam, no nonsense, and as I see it, everyone wins. The Big Crumbs site looks good too - you’ll easily find all the info you need, whether you’re a shopper, referrer, seller or all three combined.

I’ll be joining today - did I mention that it’s 100% free? It will be another chapter in my “make extra cash online” saga. At the very least, I’ll be getting cash back on my Christmas shopping this year, so I win…

Update: I tried to join. All excited… It turns out they’re only accepting members from Australia, Canada, Ireland,USA and the UK at this point. I’m soooo disappointed! I’ve sent them a ticket, reminding them that Norway is on the map (and on eBay), but we shall see. In the meantime, those of you who are residents of the above mentioned countries: check this out! I hope to be joining you soon.
