Mother’s Got A Dot Com

RT from Untwisted Vortex told us yesterday about a rough patch he’s going through in A Possible Disappearing Act. In the comments that ensued, he was inundated with support, and with people telling him to put up a Paypal Donate button. He didn’t want to - he felt it would be like begging, but eventually gave in to the collective pressure of the Blogosphere. He posted this :The Hardest Thing I’ve Ever Done on the subject.

RT has been giving advice and blog shout-outs “forever”… I’ve been lucky enough to have been included in his “Blog Drive-By’s” a few times, and I do consider it an honor! He also happens to be running a very good blog/site. I’m happy to be part of the blogging community rallying round him in this difficult time… Please go and visit Untwisted Vortex, and help if you can. If not, verbal support is greatly appreciated too.
While you’re there, tell him to leave that button up, and not talk more nonsense of “having a limit”… Tell him to treat his wife (she’s sick) to something nice while he visits her in the US if he happens to be given more than he thought he’d need!!!

New beginnings for us, and more of the same, too!

Poopy’s Mum is having her baby today (maybe she’s had him already)! Captain Poopy was a preemie, and she’s been praying for and doing everything to have a full-term pregnancy this time - and she did it!
She’s now full term, and went off to squeeze the little kite out yesterday.
Go on over there and wish her well!

Done for and done in…

Today was a looong one. A quick breakfast, and hubby & # 3 Brat went out to fire up the hot water ( a barrel of water, heated by a log fire).At 10.15am, the slaughterer arrived, and at 11.am, the circus was on the road.

Our 3 pigs have had numbered days, and today, their numbers were up. Only, they didn’t see it that way. They went into the smaller pen without too much trouble, but swiftly jumped the fence when they realized something was wrong.

So - back to square one! They finally got hold of one, and it was put down, cleaned and gutted, which took the better part of 2 hours.

Meanwhile, yours truly was boiling more water on the stove, filling buckets of hot water from the tap, and trying to prepare a birthday dinner for 20 people - we’d invited them for 5pm…

Pigs # 2 and 3 were just as elusive - they had to put both of them down in one go (they managed to catch them both), they didn’t want to be running around in the mud, trying to catch one very suspicious pig…

By 4pm, slaughter boy left, and hubby and a mate left with the carcasses, to hang them in a neighbor’s barn. Hubby was back at 5.15.

Guests were mercifully late, and dinner was on the table at 5.45pm…

The birthday girl (#5 Brat) has had a great day, with presents galore, dead pigs all over the place, and taco & cake for dinner.

I’m done now. A little TV, and a look at all the dirty dishes that will keep till tomorrow, and I’ll be off to bed. Hubby fell asleep on the couch earlier, so he won’t be late to bed either!

Yes! It’s November 18th, it’s Sunday, and so far, I’ve posted every day of this month, and no back-dating…
I’ve had some traffic from there as well, although I haven’t been all that active over there. Have a look at my page, and while you’re at it, have a look at some of the (many) great blogs and bloggers listed there!

I read a post about commenting over at RT’s @ Untwisted Vortex today, and I can only plead guilty as charged.
I’ve been very bad at visiting my commenters lately. I’ve had a very good excuse for a while, though - when I use Internet Explorer, virtually every blog I visit takes AGES to load. Now that I’ve got Firefox that’s all changed, and I promise I’ll be better!
RT also launches a comments contest - where you can enter the top commenters on your blog on a weekly basis. (Read the article, RT explains it so much better than I can…)

We can all do better - commenting is good for everyone!
