Mother’s Got A Dot Com

With our barn getting along nicely, we’ve decided that we can take on a few extra horses this summer, and for the upcoming winter we can also rent out some stable space.

This means, of course, that we have to start promoting our services. Stabling horses can be done in different ways – the most common way is to have people pay for the stable and the food, and leave the grooming of their horse to them. Most people just need a place wher they can keep their animal anyway, and want to be able to care for it themselves, as well as ride it. There are plenty of riding paths around here, and not a lot of traffic, so that bit is ideal for any horse owner.

When the building is finished, I’ll take some pictures of it and of the surrounding area, and perhaps have some imprinted promotional products made. A small brochure, perhaps, and some business cards, so that we can get the word out into the local community and beyond. Word of mouth is great, but a picture says more than a thousand words, right???

A narrow escape…

We almost had a feeling of spring after Tuva the storm had done its thing, but look what we woke up to this morning!

This is what the storm named Tuva looked like wednesday evening. (The little red cross is me… hello!!!) It has moved eastward (our way) since then, and is expected to reach its peak roundabout now.
We’re not affected really – the wind is blowing, but there are no raging seas or falling trees around here. A bit further west, though, they’re afraid for their harbors, and the odd van has already been blown off course…
I know – it’s nothing, compared to hurricanes in Florida, tsunamis, tornados, but it’s here, now, and it’s far from the norm…
I’m sending a warm thought to anyone who’s out at sea today…

This is something that occurs in winter, and involves ice crystals in the clouds, and sunlight being reflected. It’s called Mother-of-pearl clouds, or nacreous clouds, and we’ve had quite a bit of it lately. Pretty, isn’t it?

These were taken just after 9 o’clock this morning, they’re the same motif, at two slightly different angles. Just an illustration of winter darkness… I did say 9am, and the sun is just about to surface…
