Can anyone imagine what it must be like to be held captive in the jungle for 6 years? Ingrid Bétancourt knows only too well. Seeing her reunited with her family yesterday was amazing! She was held in chains for three years, tortured and abused, but now she’s free!
What that word must mean after such an ordeal… Welcome home, Ingrid!

It was the experience of a lifetime. This 74 year-old artist made us laugh, he made us cry - and what a charming, dignified man…
He did all his great hits from the 80es, opening the show with “Dance me to the end of Love”. He did quite a few older ones too - catering to elderly fans (of whom there were many!) and also some newer songs. When the intro to “I’m your man” sounded over the arena, I cried… I’ve loved that song from when I first heard it - wishing someone had written those lyrics for me…
I don’t know what a Cohen concert is like anywhere else, but he has such a large and diverse audience in this country, and his appreciation shows. His friendship with the late Norwegian writer Axel Jensen and his wife Marianne (to whom the song “So long, Marianne” is written) has also brought him to Norway on several occasions, and taught him to love this country.
Some 12000 spectators gave that love right back to him, and the concert was… riveting.
I thought the show would have been over in just under 2 hours - no way. He went on stage at 8pm, and was still doing encores when we had to leave at 11.10 to catch the last train home.
So - Thank you, Mr. Cohen - your “golden voice” made our anniversary a truly memorable one, and made cousin Lindas send-off back to the States a night to remember for her too. As for #4 Brat (14) who came along - you’ve got yourself a brand new fan!

I’m foreign. My English isn’t bad, but when it comes to abbreviations, I’m usually quite lost. OK - I know JFK, TLC and ATM, and I can work my way around the LOLs and ROFLMAOs of the Blogosphere, but when I’m slapped with something like KVM, I have to go and check it out.
There are sites that specialize in acronyms, and they’re a big help - did you know that there are 155 verified definitions for SMS? As for CCC, it has has 268 definitions, which makes finding the right one a daunting task…
I only found 8 for KVM, so I’m in luck this time…

I’m all for insurance. Well, OK, I think it’s a necessary evil, and that means I’m all for it. So, when asked by my “partner” to blog about NC health insurance, I happily set out to investigate, thinking it’s something of general interest… Well, it is - partly. Except for the NC bit. NC, it turns out, stands for North Carolina.
Now - I’m all for North Carolina too. Well, OK, I wouldn’t be able to find it on a map, but I believe it must be slightly to the North of South Carolina. Still, I’m all for it.
There’s just one catch: I’m in Norway. A credible post from me on the topic of health insurance in North Carolina just isn’t possible… So this is what you get.

I have a partner in blogging, that shall not be named here, and that sometimes gives me keywords to blog about. Most of the time, that’s fine. I usually have no problem integrating these words into my post - it can even be quite inspiring.
This time, I’m stumped. I have no idea how to include golf bags in a post. What are they, by the way? Are they for your clubs or for the rest of your gear? Maybe they’re just a fashion item… You tell me…

Stating the obvious, you say?
Perhaps, but May 17. is our National Day, and the whole country is hoping for good weather, plenty of ice cream and happy children in parades…

Also, #1 Brat is in the midst of celebrating her graduation, and May 17. marks the end of that as well, with a parade that we’ll go and see.

If I manage to remember my camera tomorrow, there’ll be pictures…
Oh - what are we celebrating? Our independence. The day marks our independence from Denmark and the birth of our very own constitution, both of which happened in 1814. The independence didn’t really last, as Sweden took over, and we were coupled with them until June 7. 1905. Still, May 17. remains the day when Norways constitution was proclaimed, and is a symbolic day of celebration. Lodged in the middle of V Day (May 8.) and June 7., it’s a good day to celebrate both the constitution, the final independence in 1905 and the liberation in 1945…

Last day - and here’s the last doodle from me…
If you look carefully, all the themes of Doodle Week are represented: There’s Doodle Me, still in dire need of sunblock, having a Doodle Daydream, the Doodle Monster up there on the left, a sketchy Doodle Flower, a great big Doodle Animal Mouse, and the Doodle Abstract - this time without the eggness.
Result: Doodle Mad…
Thanks Claire, it’s been lots’o'fun!

And Doodle Week - Day 5

Daydreams and cats? Well, had I had Paint at hand in my doodling school days, it might have looked like this - the cat might have been there too, but this one’s for Mo!

(PS:It looks like it came from an egg, but no… cats are mammals, silly!)
NEWSFLASH - THE EGG HAS HATCHED!

… I wish I were a techie. OK - I know my way around a hammer, a saw and right angles, I’m a wiz at assembling furniture from IKEA (how difficult can it be, they’re Swedish…) , but say things like HDMI wall plate, and my eyes glaze over.
I use my computer most days, and I manage to get the right plugs into the right holes most of the time, but what they’re called? No clue. Whenever I find a techie blog that says:”for beginners”, I try, but start seeing double after reading two lines.
Luckily, they’re online. If I’m in trouble, I’ll know where to go…
