You could say it worked. Between 2.46 and 2.48pm yesterday, I had well over 100 (closer to 130) visitors to this site from Bux.to. So – I did get my money’s worth. Kind of. Still, I’m not happy.

I had a vision of the visits happening over a few days, and at least one or two taking the time to say hello. Not so – people click, wait the allotted 30 seconds, and move on. Since it was all done in (exactly) 2 minutes as well, my $1,99 got me a (temporary) surge of traffic and a good chuckle…

What have I learned from this? This way of generating traffic certainly doesn’t serve my purpose. Yes, I would like traffic to my site, but not without any type of interaction… It could be that one or two will be coming back, but I somehow doubt it. The majority of the hits were (probably) from non-English sites – from Brazil, Tchech republic, Italy, China…
Bux.to does pay you to click. For the big bucks, you need a big fleet of referrals (You can actually buy unreferred members to be put into your system – if they’re active, it’s quite possible to earn good money. The ones who clicked me were certainly VERY active LOL). As long as people/sites are willing to pay for that kind of traffic, there’s money in it for the clickers… I’ll keep my membership, but I won’t be paying for traffic again!

I signed up with another system yesterday too, Link Referral.com, and I got 20 visitors from there in the course of the first day. I also got one review.
It works like this: To get your site ranked well in their system, you log in on a daily (if you so choose) basis, visit up to 30 sites of your choice (you can visit as many as you like, but 30 is the maximum they’ll rank you for). You can also review sites, post to the forum and add a favorite for a better ranking. I didn’t do the maximum, but I still got 20 visitors, some of whom surfed around a bit, and one even took the time to give me a nice write-up. The better your in-site ranking, the better your exposure, and the more visits you’ll get.
These people are after traffic to their sites, just as you are, so they’re more likely to be sociable… and maybe strike up a conversation.
I’ll be investigating that one further – I’d much rather have 20 (almost) organic visits in 24 hours than 130 semi-automatic visits in 2 minutes!
You can pay your way out of doing the work, and get your site featured for a fee, and you can also become a paying member and be paid for your referrals to the system. I haven’t investigated that bit – I want to see if I can get some recurring traffic first.
Anyway – it is, if you want to give it a go. There are thousands of sites on there, many quite interesting, so you might even get some new friends…

Stumble it!

I looked at Bux.to and it looks good to me. I can see the benefit in referrals. I use this http://subvertandprofit.com/user/signup?referrer=terryg
sorry for the referral link but I must say I use it and have many times received traffic to my chosen sites in excess of 10k. Yes it does cost some money but I return a lot more than that from the advertising. Sometimes my return is greater than 800% so I don’t mind using it every now and then. It beats ppc. Another one I use for my blog is mybloglog.com, no referral link here as it is a community similar to the ones already on your page. I actually found this blog from linkreferral and came and had a look. Good luck.

There is just so much to choose from isn’t there. I’m getting where I just don’t join anything. I hope you find the magic thing and then I’ll do it. I have watched how you do this for some time. Have a great day. Speaking of linkage are you interested in doing another meme for linkage? I will happen on January 3rd. If so let me know and I’ll refer you to Mel. :)

I have been a member of link referal for about
5 months now and their great. I get lots of traffic from them. However very few sales, I get most of my sales from free classified ad’s. There are 1000’s of ad sites I seek them out every day. The best advice though is try to stay away from craigs list as I have found it to be full of scamers.
Every time I post an ad there I get about 15 orders and usually all are scamers.

If you find that one in a million site that really
produces sales Please let me know as well
Thanks for letting me join in on this discussion Pam

Hiya Mom, its Lan here.

I too am a member at link referral and i love it there, except I received this letter from google adsense with a warning about using traffic generating programs. I got scared to lose my adsense account and have not been back to link referral since. Have they said anything to you?

My hubby had one of those swirl things on when we first launched the site, similar to what you were mentioning up there about the 120 visits in 2 minute (this was free tho).. *wait for the 30 second timer, and then click the hat* I found those places to be infectious with warez and just down right nasty outfits. We discontinued our service after 1 day. 3 months later, those suckers were still leeching onto us, google said something — we had to write them *several* times to get the sites name off their *spam roll* as i like to call it.

I’ve bookmarked your site and will be back to see if you’ve answered. However, feel free to visit itsa

Stine Says:

Hi Lan, I got one of those emails too, but I thought it was because of my 100 visits in 2 minutes spree over at Bux.to, that I paid $1.99 for. They did go on about incentive, so I still think that’s what they meant. Linkreferral is free, so no real incentive there, right? I haven’t heard anything from Adsense since (I haven’t used Bux.to either – no fun in too much traffic in too short a time anyway).

One site I’ve found very effective is Entrecard.com .

Do please yammer on like ya know me… That’s what I like about blogging!!!

Lanfearinc Says:

Hiya Stine (do i call you stine? or momszeee?) hehe

thank you so much for answering.. So you think i should head back to link referral hey? *still scared* well not as much now lol

i noticed that you have your site recommends on your jan 16th blog post and wondered, if im going to be yammering on like we are old pals, if you wanted to check out itsa and if you like it enough, would tell your readers about it? I would ask a friend to do this for me :) – so thats why im asking asking you.

:) I added your blog to our community blog roll.

I also have my own personal blog on the site.. The place is Huge!! and was built by hand by my husband and myself. I hope you can drop by and visit :)

Im just new to the cross blogging through comments things and I allow anonymous comments on the blog at itsa (meaning you dont have to sign up as a member to participate there) but i do have the capture there to ward off evil spam bots! we prefer humans only at itsa hehe
