Not me – no such luck, but #3 Brat is going this spring. His school is involved in a building project over there, and since he’s learning to be a carpenter… His whole class is going.

Another one who’ll need a new passport, a travel insurance and some tropical gear. (I think). I’m impressed with his teachers, who embark on a journey halfway across the world with these youngsters, without a second thought. (There may be plenty of second thoughts for all I know, but they’re not letting on!). I wonder if he’ll need any shots before he’s going. I hope they’ll let us know in time. I think I won’t wait to hear it from the school, actually. I’m sure I can find out on the ‘Net somewhere.

#3 Brat is busy saving up for his trip – he’s even landed himself a weekend job. He’s saving up for his driving licence too, so he needs all the money he can lay his hands on. He’s quite good at saving, unlike his sisters, who seem to have plenty of “needs”…

School trips were something else altogether in my day. I think we had a couple of trips to museums in Oslo. 1 hour by bus. We also went across the fjord to look for fossils. Times have changed – good for #3Brat!

Stumble it!

Wow, that’s some trip. It sounds like it will be a good experience, but it can’t be cheap. It’s good that he’s working to save his own money. Our son wants to go on a band trip this year, but he isn’t as willing to do the fundraising as I’d like.

Some field trip! What a wonderful opportunity for you son. I only remember a couple field trips all through school, one to the planetarium and one to the health museum.

Vixen Says:

He is a lucky one! Our school trips were not much further than a few hours bus ride. I can’t imagine being able to travel to another country.

What a great opportunity – my old church used to take a group of kids either to Mexico or the Dominican Republic for building projects every other year – it was always such an eye-opening experience for them! And it’s never too late….two years ago my dad went on an overseas building trip with Habitat for Humanity…he’s already planning his next one!

Oh wow what a wonderful adventure. So nice that the school is planning this.

Absolutely one of the best ways to learn is to do. He will get a taste of another country’s life styles and the experience of international travel!! Bravo, I can’t wait to see the pictures!!
