I’d really love having a computer in the kitchen. Right, you say – buy a laptop, you can put it anywhere.
I don’t want a laptop – they take up counter space. I already have most of my life (magazines, letters, bills, everybody else’s clutter) on my countertops. I want a proper screen, preferably mounted on the wall on some kind of lcd mount, with a keyboard neatly tucked underneath. The hard drive? Somewhere else, preferably, or hidden in a cupboard.
Why? I’m forever printing recipes from the ‘net… I’d save a rainforest by having the recipes on a screen nearby… Also – the kitchen is where everything happens, including homework, so it would be practical for the kids too. They don’t have internet connections in their rooms. We only have this one that’s connected – I don’t want to lose what little control I have over their Internet activities. Homework off the ‘net has to be done from my PC, and an extra one in the kitchen would free PC time for me in the afternoons, while still being in control.

I think a computer screen mounted up under the kitchen cabinet is a great idea!
I could chain-drop Entrecards and do the dishes at the same time!

I agree it would be great. They have fridges with TV’s in it. If I could get cable on the fridge and have a DVR then I could watch all the cooking shows while I actually cook! Life is getting complicated I think…
