I do that – a lot.
That’s what I was doing with regard to Alexa too, and I was this close to going under 100K yesterday – my rank was 103Ksomething. Weekly and 3 month average were in the 80s, so I thought that by the next update, I’d break the 100K barrier.
Not so. This morning, lo and behold, Alexa has gone and changed their whole rank-calculating gizmo, and through some mysterious twist in the tail, I’m back up at 213K… Boo Hoo. My other blog has improved by 300K, so it’s not all bad, I guess… Except that it makes the whole thing even more difficult to understand.
I thought I was being extremely dim – I tried to read up on the change, but couldn’t find anything to explain the new system. It turns out I’m not alone.
This article from TysBlog says all the things I wanted to say on the matter – Ty even promises a follow-up, as he’s gone and contacted Alexa staff hoping to get some sort of clarification. Well done, that means I can do what I do best – nothing – while I let someone else do the work for me. In this case, Ty. Thanks, Ty!
