I drive an old heap. An ancient (I think we’re talking 1986) Mercedes Geländewagen, with room for 9 on a good day (when it’s not loaded up with tools, animal feed or even straw…) It’s not totallt dry when it rains, its fuses blow now and then – I have to carry spares, in case I suddenly have no headlights – and now it’s been diagnosed with poor brakes. I can live with blowing fuses, dog food and an inch-deep layer of gravel on the floor… I don’t need chrome door handles, shiny hubcaps or a customized dashboard, but I do need functioning brakes. So – I have to take the old dear in for an overhaul. Maybe they’ll fix the hazard lights too, and have a look at the electrics – that’d be a bonus.
My monster truck and I will have a few years together yet…
