A couple of years ago, there were concrete plans to make the whole area around our little farm into a posh neighbourhood, with 200 estate homes and a golf course that would have surrounded us completely.
This would probably have increased the value of our property, but I’m not sure we would have stayed. It would have been a country golf club, and nothing like, say, a Branson private golf course. I’m sure that golf is a great way to enjoy a walk in the countryside with good friends, also for an averagely unposh person like myself, but we’d just moved into the woods – partly because we value our privacy. 200 estate homes and a golf course would have clashed a bit with the lifestyle we moved here for…
It never came to pass, and I doubt it will in our lifetime. We don’t mind in the slightest, and should we decide to take up golf, there are possibilities just 10 minutes drive away!
